We can make your gender ultrasound like a gender reveal party. Bring up to 8 guests, see your baby on the screen and share the moment together. When you’re ready, we’ll change the room lights blue for a boy and pink for a girl, with balloons and reveal accessories.
Keep it a secret:
If you’d rather not know on the day, we won’t tell you during the scan. We can seal the result in an envelope, ready for a trusted friend or family member to collect and plan your reveal when you’re ready.

You can find out in two ways:
From 6 weeks: Choose our early gender blood test + scan. This is a highly accurate way to confirm your baby’s sex early in pregnancy.
From 15 weeks + 4 days (about 16 weeks): Book a gender scan (ultrasound only). Before this stage, ultrasound alone isn’t reliable for confirming gender.
Some parents wait for the NHS 20-week scan, but it depends on whether baby is in the right position to see clearly.

Yes, gender scan is done using ultrasound, which uses sound waves (not radiation) to create an image of your baby on the screen. The NHS says pregnancy ultrasound scans are painless and have no known side effects for you or your baby.
At Imaginatal, scans are carried out by trained sonographers, and we follow safety guidance by using the lowest ultrasound levels needed and keeping the scan only as long as necessary to get clear views.
If you have any concerns at all, just tell your sonographer on the day and we’ll talk you through everything before we start.

Your appointment will be either 20 or 40 minutes, depending on the option you choose. We book a little extra time so you don’t feel rushed, and so you can enjoy seeing your baby on the screen.

Of course! It’s a very special occasion and we think it’s so important for you to be able to remember it for years to come, after all our scans you’ll come away with two prints and we’ll email across the digital files.

If we couldn’t identify the gender of your baby, we will organise a free rescan so you can come again when baby is in a better position!
Sometimes baby’s position (or lots of wriggling!) makes it hard to see clearly on the day. If that happens, we’ll offer a free rescan, and you can come back when baby is in a better position. We offer up to 3 free rescans, so you won’t feel rushed. -
Yes, if you don’t want to know your baby’s gender you can still have scans to see them: we just won’t reveal the gender.

Yes absolutely, you can still have a gender scan if you have twins, but it can be a little more difficult. Usually with twins you will be able to identify the gender from 18-20 weeks if the babies are in a position that allows us to.

There is a surcharge of £20 for twins. This is because the scan will be longer. Your appointment is 40 minutes to reflect this.

You can bring up to 8 guests to share the moment. If you’d like, we can make your ultrasound scan feel like a mini gender reveal in the clinic with balloons and the room lights changing blue for a boy or pink for a girl when you’re ready to find out.
