Before your scan

When can I have a cervical length scan?

Cervical length scans are available from 14 to 24 weeks.

Is it an internal scan?

Yes. It is a transvaginal ultrasound. The sonographer will explain the examination and ask for your consent.

How should I prepare?

Wear a two-piece outfit, empty your bladder just before the appointment and take medication as normal unless advised otherwise by your doctor or midwife.

What happens if findings need follow-up?

The sonographer will explain the findings and any recommended next step with your maternity-care team.
